You want to live a life of joy and purpose, taking care of yourself and your family while also using your unique gifts to serve others. Life’s many demands can become overwhelming and feel like it’s tossing you and pulling you in too many directions. Do you occasionally feel like you can’t do it all? It shouldn’t be this hard, right?
My name is Leslie Marchand and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, founder of SoYoCo Wellness LLC, TEDx speaker and author of The 5-Minute Happiness Journal and The Self-Love Journal. I understand what it feels like to be tossed around by life’s storms.
For 25 years I have used my skills as a clinical social worker, yoga instructor and life coach to find calm in the midst of my own personal and professional storms.
Through SoYoCo Wellness, I offer programs that help you find a sense of renewal, routines and rhythm in your life so that you can live a life of joy and purpose. As you renew yourself, you are better able to inspire others. SoYoCo books, courses and programs are an integration of my training in Social Work, Yoga and Coaching (thus the name SoYoCo).
A complete bio is listed below if you would like to learn more about my background and what led me to start SoYoCo Wellness.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) from Texas Christian University and my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from The University of Texas at Arlington. My social work career has spanned 25 years. I have specialized in several areas of service during that time: housing and homeless services, mental health, and medical and hospice care for seniors. Before starting SoYoCo Wellness Services, I worked in the Senior Behavioral Health unit of a local hospital. I currently work as a social worker for a local hospice company. These diverse and high-intensity settings require a social worker to draw upon all of her training: intake and assessment, individual counseling, group work, crisis intervention, access and use of community resources, and working with clients’ families and social environment.
I discovered my passion for yoga in 1997 and found it to be a deeply effective form of self-care to thrive in the intensity of my career as a clinical social worker. I started teaching yoga in 1999 and completed my 500-hour certification through Namaste International with Irene and Bill Beer, M.D. I believe in the physical and mental health benefits of all forms of yoga and enjoy teaching active Vinyasa flow classes in addition to gentle restorative classes. I have taught classes in many styles and levels in a variety of settings from yoga studios, retreats, community centers and health clubs to a community college, hospital and medical school. I continue to take classes, workshops and trainings with world-renowned yoga teachers such as Bo Forbes, Shiva Rea, Seane Corne, Tiffany Cruikshank and Leslie Kaminoff.
I am a certified coach in The Destination Method (TDM). I have taken over 300 hours of training with Robert and Luzette McDonald of Telos Healing Center. I have done this training in individual and group coaching as a way to continue my own personal and professional development. I continue to take continuing education courses and to study the most up-to-date health and wellness research, theory and techniques. Our culture’s understanding of people as bio-psycho-social-spiritual beings is developing at a rapid pace. I feel called to offer wholehearted, integrated tools and services to other people who have made a commitment to a life of service.
My husband and I live on our organic and pasture-based farm in Texas with our four kids, eight dogs, dozens of pigs, hundreds of turkeys, thousands of chickens, and acres of produce.
