Are you a mental health professional who loves to serve others but struggle to find time to take care of yourself?
You answered the calling to be of service, to help those most vulnerable, those in need, those who can’t help themselves. That’s why you chose this profession. And most days, you absolutely love it.
But some days are more about meetings than meaning. More paperwork than passion.
Some days, the overwhelm, burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma become too much to handle.
“What if I am not doing enough to help my clients?”
“What if all of this stress at work is impacting my family?”
“What is all of this worry doing to my own health and mental well-being?”
Those days of intense pressure, piles of paperwork, endless meetings, and chaotic situations where I feel out of control and unable to do what I was trained to do.
If you can relate, then you’ve landed in the right place.
I’m Leslie Marchand, a clinical social worker and yoga teacher with 25 years of experience working in stressful settings such as homeless shelters and psychiatric hospital units.
I am passionate about teaching self care to mental health and healthcare professionals (and anyone committed to a life of service) because I have learned through trial and error how to take care of myself through life’s storms personally and professionally while raising a family and being of service to others as a social worker, yoga instructor, and life coach.
When I started implementing basic self care strategies, I was able to shift effortlessly from overcome to relaxed, calm, centered, and energized, not just for my clients, but also for my family, friends, and myself.
I know these self care strategies made me a better caregiver, supporter, advocate, mother, wife, and friend.
They worked for me, and I know they will work for you – no matter what your title or workplace. If you are a caregiver, and stress and overwhelm are constant companions, then you will greatly benefit from what I have to share.
